Last week was a scorcher in this part of Kentucky. I took a few days off to work on mulching and planting new daylilies. It was so hot in fact, that I had to start at 5 or 6 AM to get any work done. It was rough! But I enjoyed it so! My father was adamant that I not pursue the path he did which was farming. He raised tobacco, corn and operated a dairy for many years. Farming is dependent on many variables and it can be heartbreaking and budget busting for those who pursue it. I must confess the last week of planning and planting lit a fire in me. I didn't realize just how much I miss working with my hands. I am a creative person by nature and love to create. Over the years I have created scrapbooks and cards. I am excited to start this new chapter. I hope to make this a career somewhere down the road or at least a hobby that gives me joy. Because isn't that what we were designed by the creato...
It all started with a couple of daylilies. I needed a few perennials to add to a flower bed. But as often happens things got a bit out of control. :-) You see, there are THOUSANDS of varieties and I wanted to have them all (or at least a nice variety of colors.) And before you knew it, we had a farm... a daylily farm. So what started out as a hobby quickly became something more. And in a few years, I hope to make this a real gig. It may just be a show garden. Yes, there are such things. :-) But it will be mine! Thanks for following!
