Unto the Lord

Last week was a scorcher in this part of Kentucky.  I took a few days off to work on mulching and planting new daylilies.  It was so hot in fact, that I had to start at 5 or 6 AM to get any work done.  It was rough!  But I enjoyed it so!  My father was adamant that I not pursue the path he did which was farming.  He raised tobacco, corn and operated a dairy for many years.  Farming is dependent on many variables and it can be heartbreaking and budget busting for those who pursue it.

I must confess the last week of planning and planting lit a fire in me.  I didn't realize just how much I miss working with my hands.  I am a creative person by nature and love to create.  Over the years I have created scrapbooks and cards.  I am excited to start this new chapter.  I hope to make this a career somewhere down the road or at least a hobby that gives me joy.  Because isn't that what we were designed by the creator to do?  We should love what we do and do it as "unto the Lord."

Blessings...

In the beginning...

It all started with a couple of daylilies.  I needed a few perennials to add to a flower bed.  But as often happens things got a bit out of control.  :-) You see, there are THOUSANDS of varieties and I wanted to have them all (or at least a nice variety of colors.)  And before you knew it, we had a farm... a daylily farm.  So what started out as a hobby quickly became something more.  And in a few years, I hope to make this a real gig.  It may just be a show garden.  Yes, there are such things.  :-)  But it will be mine!  Thanks for following!
